I have been enjoying the many tangents that the Furry-thread has taken and thought I'd update the list to let you know that Joni's song was played on ABC Australia, across the state of Queensland this week during a 40 minute interview that I did for a segment titled 'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue". YAY for Joni-songs-on-Oz-radio! The segment features singer/songwriters and involves them to performing two songs (for 'something new' I performed my song 'Minnesota', from my new album Arva... for something 'borrowed' I performed a cover song of 'A Little Bit of Everything' by Taylor Goldsmith) and selecting two songs to be played (for 'something old' I chose Ella Fitzgerald's version of 'Bei Mir Bistu Shein', given my Jewish heritage ....and 'something blue' - you guessed it 'Furry Sings the Blues'!). I told the story of Joni giving her first public interview in many years - and the fact she'd mentioned how proud she was of the lyrics in that song. I spoke about old Furry and the decline of Beale Street and the fact that it was the song she chose to sing publicly in Canada at Luminato. It was a really nice interview... and I reckon some of the listeners would have never heard the song before...so I feel happy to have shared the Joni-love! Thanks to everyone for the links to articles and information.
