I really got into that. She was one of the first to do so in the pop music of that generation, in a way she predated the whole jazz standards/swing revival of the 80's and 90s that continues to this day. She was about 25 years old in that vid, two years younger than Joni. I saw Bette Midler in Oklahoma City in 1973 and Barry Manilow was her opening act. He was phenomenal and almost upstaged her, but not quite! She was awesome. I was addicted to her Divine Miss M album at the time. > > Susan Tierney McNamara > email: sem8@cornell.edu > > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Catherine McKay > Sent: Sunday, June 30, 2013 11:39 PM > To: Mitch Rustad; Michael quebec > Cc: joni@smoe.org > Subject: Re: For Free/Bette Midler > > Wow!
