'a case of you' is a real high point, but so is carly simon's 'that's the way i've always heard it should be', the righteous brothers' 'you've lost that loving feeling' and more. i didn't see that show, but i have seen them both a couple of times, together and separately. one time i saw ann, she did a medley tribute to sarah vaughn that was amazing. she has a similar richness in her lower range and she's also a great, loving impressionist. they've both been great friends to the new york city gay men's chorus, having sung in regular concerts with us, and benefits for us a couple of times each. liz calloway did our christmas show a couple of years back. a nasty flu bug had wiped the crap out of the chorus the week before, with more than half the members missing one of the last two rehearsals. our last dress was one of the worst rehearsals i've ever sung in, but liz was incredibly positive. when we got to performance day, on stage she was both warm and communicative, and fiercely professional. it was an amazing combination, and we sang two great shows that day, despite the miserable week leading up to it. most of the staging for her songs had her directly in front of me, so when she would turn upstage to connect with the chorus (which was often), she and i would beam at each other. definitely one of my favorite guest star experiences. greetings, all. patrick np - ethel ennis, the moon was yellow - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 5:33 PM To: kbhla@fastmail.fm Cc: ckarma@hotmail.com; joni@smoe.org Subject: Re: Ann Hampton Callaway NJC I saw her recently performing here at the Peace Center with Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops. She did a Streisand tribute and was amazing. Of course I guess you have to be to do a STREISAND tribute, right? She also seems like a really sweet and good person on top of it.
