I did realize one great gift given us during this: Joni revealing her fascination with the creative processes of her artistic idols. How best to empathize with her most fervent fans who have sought glimpses into her process for decades. Her objectivity was on full display in this sit down. She was simultaneously self-effacing and self-assured, a delicate and articulate balance of poise and confidence. One of my favorite moments was her reference to how filmmaker Jean Renoir risked pissing off the bourgeoisie in his "The Rules of the Game." I agree with Kakki that Joni seems in a good place now. I may pine for the loss of her vocal instrument but she proves again and again that she has many other voices. And I'm glad it sounds like she's got some things left on the bucket list.
