Hello Jim from Ohio! Yes, that phrase I learned quite a while ago  (1970s) 
and is Yiddish. That's a wonderful language since it incorporates  so much 
from other languages so no matter if you don't know Spanish or Greek or  
Hebrew, you'll get the meaning anyway. I also like Latin, my ex-priest taught me 
 Donminus vobiscum and its follow-up, Et cum spititu tuo. Episcopalens  
rock!
