I'm flexible as to which date and so are my friends. I'm hoping to get decent seats in the $75-95 range, so I guess it depends on availability. I think this may sell out quickly. I often go to concerts by myself and it's almost always easy to find one seat, but I'm buying for two other people, and that's not always as easy. I will definitely let you know once I have them, and hope that's OK. I know that Michael from Quebec and his partner are coming but don't know whether he said which date they're attending. Whatever the case may be, if there will be a dinner or drinks together, I can do both, since I live downtown anyway. Just don't ask me to come up with names of good restaurants, since I don't eat out all that often, and my guess is as good as anyone else's and I often rely on websites for ideas! >________________________________ > From: David J. Probably his idea of humour, but he could have used much more diplomatic language. I'm hoping Joni will show, but not necessarily counting on it. >________________________________ > From: Jim L'Hommedieu >To: JMDL >Sent: Wednesday, April 17, 2013 5:24:42 PM >Subject: Re: Luminato full festival lineup revealed (will Joni Mitchell appear?) > > >Gees, Weisbrodt did not help things by mentioning people she slept with. Organizing the Mitchell event cost Weisbrodt "about three months of talking to everyone who's worked or slept with her in the past 20 years," as he tried to make contact with the reclusive musician. Eventually, he got her involved in the planning and hopes she will appear at the events, though she notoriously skipped a 2006 Carnegie Hall tribute at the last minute because of a sick cat.> > >http://jonimitchell.com/library/view.cfm?id=2571 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Apr 2013 23:09:11 -0400 From: jlhommedieu@insight.rr.com Subject: Re: The Meters, njc The film called "Make It Funky" also had Art Neville's later band, The Funky Meters. Allen Toussaint and the Neville Brothers were on stage. Some other familiar nanes were Brian Stoltz, Danny Kortchmar, and Bonnie Raitt. The stage manager was our own Michael Paz. Too cool! Dear listers, To celebrate Joni's 70th birthday Robin Adler & Mutts of the Planet will be performing the Hejira album in concert on Sat. Nov 9th at Dizzy's in San Diego. Our For The Roses concert on April 6th was a resounding success (read the review at http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/jam-session/2013/apr/09/for-the-roses/) and it is with great pleasure that we tackle our most beloved album, Hejira. Furthermore, we just heard that Jamie Kime, Grammy winning charter member of Dweezil Zappa's Zappa Plays Zappa, has agreed to join me on guitars that night so we can capture that lush swirling double guitar texture that carries the sublime poetry of that record. Put it on your calendarslet's celebrate Joni's 70th in style. cheers all, Dave. ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2013 #486 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, sendtojoni@smoe.org.
