For those of you who have read Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow, the fourth part of the book begins with the epigram "What?", attributed to Richard Nixon. I read somewhere recently that the galleys were changed in the middle of Watergate to add this quote, perhaps from the tapes that were released. The early galleys, and in fact the advance reviewer copies, had a quote from Joni Mitchell's Cactus Tree (the live version she does on Miles of Aisles still sends chills down my spine.) Anyway, can anyone shed further light on what the quote was or anything else on Joni's brush with post-modernist literature? ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2013 #448 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, sendtojoni@smoe.org.
