Looking at the list, I know more of the very old songs because they've become classics. There's a helluva lot of Disney stuff on the list for the last 20 years or so, but they always write their animated ones as musicals and they often use the same people who know how to write a hook, but I find a lot of them very repetitious. Also a lot of smarm on the list - the kind of stuff they do to excess on American Idol and so on. The stuff that is probably going to be a hit, even if it may not be that songwriter's best material. (Sort of like "Big yellow taxi" vs most of the stuff from "Hejira".) Last year, only two songs were nominated.
