I also listen mostly to 6'0s/70's music (though I was born in the 80's :-)) but I really like Laura Marling, from her first album (that she wrote at 17!) which caught me from the first listen. unfortunately I didn't like her last album as much, but I still find her very good. I'd love to see her live sometime (but not much chances for that here in Israel..) I think she mentioned Joni as a big influence on her. Carmel. I thought to myself, surely he's not talking about THE Laura Marling. I'm not much into modern day female singer songwriters (nothing to do with pea-brain-ness...just prefer 60s/70s folk, which is slightly odd given I was born in 1978) but Laura Marling passes the test! Her song 'Ghosts' was what first hooked me in....exceptionally beautiful song. She's very popular hear in Australia. I've never seen her live but I imagine it would be a great show.
