When I first stopped by the offices of Delilah Films (NYC) representatives of CBC-TV (Canada)
were just leaving.  They viewed an early edit of the "Both Sides Now And Then" documentary,
and were pleased with what they had seen.  The film was then scheduled for broadcast.

However, that was not to be.

Once the film was completed, a copy was sent to Joni.

Joni did Not like the film and did Not! approve it for broadcast.

She did haver 'approval' rights, so that was that.
(Susan Lacy would not make the same mistake)

Having seen the film myself, I guess I can understand why.
There was a definite  'Paint By Numbers'  approach, and a lack of depth.

The final, completed film was never actually submitted to the CBC and was never broadcast.

I also think Joni felt that PBS and AMERICAN MASTERS would likely produce a better film.
She was right.

I'm not quite sure about the specifics of the arrangement, but I do know that while we were
working with Stephanie Bennett (Delilah Films), Joel and I knew that all the misc. film elements,
video footage and other information files were going to be transferred to PBS-AMERICAN MASTERS.

Although some of the Delilah Films 'Interview' footage was used in WOMAN Of HEART And MIND,
none of the "Both Sides Now And Then" documentary footage was used.

WOMAN Of HEART And MIND was a complete, independent production.

I do have certain 'I Wish' thoughts but overall, I think WOMAN Of HEART And MIND is a fine documentary
worthy of its subject.

"Both Sides Now And Then" is a dead issue.  I don't expect it will ever be broadcast.
