All kidding aside, I appreciate your input to the discussion as an artist and as a songwriter. Having heard so many of these songs, as well as the songs she DID record, I agree with what you're saying somewhat. I think a bigger factor is that there's a greater attraction to the newer songs she had written versus the older ones she had been performing for a longer time. There was a freshness. To further your clothing analogy, when you buy a NEW outfit and get invited to a party, you're more inclined to wear the newer outfit over an older one, even if you look better in the older one. There's a sense of newness to wearing new clothes (this from a guy who updates his wardrobe less often than America updates Presidents). "Blue On Blue" is breath-takingly beautiful. "Just Like Me" could have been her biggest hit. What's remarkable is that with the exception of "Hunter" (which was very similar to "This Flight Tonight") there's not a lot of these melodies that trickled into other songs, at least not that I can hear.
