McNamara" Subject: RE: Joni Mitchell - Mr. Blue (Live Fret Set) Right now I have been listening to a lot of unreleased Joni and learning the songs as I go. I'm having a lot of fun playing Brandy Eyes, Go Tell The Drummer Man, Winter Lady and one of my all-time favorites, Come to the Sunshine. The best thing about these tapes is Joni's banter before each song, plus her long bouts of tuning ... which I cherish! :-) You can also hear her sing germinating versions of her more popular songs ... one recording I have she says, "I wrote this last night and the verses aren't complete yet but here goes ..." and she plays Cactus Tree with a line that goes "for she fears that no one will ask her for eternity ..." which she realized quickly didn't work ... :-) Susan Tierney McNamara email: sem8@cornell.edu - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Bob.Muller@Fluor.com Sent: Friday, September 13, 2013 9:53 AM To: Shari Eaton Cc: Joni List Subject: Re: Joni Mitchell - Mr. Blue (Live Fret Set) Hi Shari - ain't that neat! Just in case you aren't aware, there is a meticulous list of these unreleased songs on the website: http://jonimitchell.com/music/album.cfm?id=1 Most of these are probably out on YouTube, so happy hunting. This has always been an area of fascination for me. Early on, when the only method of hearing these were the Tape Trees, I remember getting my first tapes (thanks again Mr. Gross) and hearing "Brandy Eyes" for the first time. I never even knew these songs EXISTED, let alone that they could be heard. Since then, I have knocked out a BUNCH of them and am still amazed that: a) Joni discarded so many WONDERFUL songs; b) Officially, these still remain in the vault and unheard by so many that would PAY to have them. I share your excitement and thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.
