Jeremy is on the (very) short list of these that I've not heard - she did release the sheet music in the songbook as you know. Wish someone had gone into the studio with it. I'm not counting Pearl Jam's song as a cover. Carnival in Kenora is one that has been done a couple times; BYT did it on their 2nd CD (also now out of print), our own Gary Zack recorded it, and the most interesting one to me is a recording by a Buffalo, NY lounge band called The Difference, who recorded it in 1968 - somehow they had gotten a demo of Joni's recording and used that to craft their own loungy version which I positively adore. This is one that I hear and understand why Joni didn't release; the lyrics are somewhat juvenile and obtuse (not too many are going to know where Kenora is), but the melody is GORGEOUS and well-worth hearing for that component alone. http://jonimitchell.com/music/song.cfm?id=245 Bob From: Anne Sandstrom To: "Bob.Muller@Fluor.com" , Catherine McKay , Cc: Joni List , Shari Eaton Date: 09/13/2013 11:05 AM Subject: RE: Joni Mitchell - Mr. Blue (Live Fret Set) Oooh! Really? I must have been sleeping when this happened. Count me in line for the Treasures :-) I can remember trying desperately to figure out what songs like Jeremy and Carnival in Kenora actually sounded like. My music reading skills were negligible (still not great, but oh well...) and I picked the melodies out note by note. Of course, they made no sense because I couldn't get the whole thing in my head. Looking forward to enjoying a fresh take on these songs.
