(Thanks Allan & Paul too). This is a great one, and you know I love those non-English covers! The Norwegians rock on this CD. Frank Aleksandersen, and Stein Ove Berg are terrific singing in their native language. Tracey Thorn, which you always start off with the best, is pure bliss with "River" I always liked her when she was with Everything But The Girl. That was a great group. One of my favorite Joni songs has always been NRH, and Case & Davidson does a wonderful performance with the song in a nice Key West feel too it. I've always thought of the song being in Hawaii, but since they live in the Keys, it works good there too. It seems that most of the covers are from non-English performers these days. I tried to google all of them, but when they are just on MySpace or some other forum, I can't get a bio from them. Still, it's a great covers CD. What is a good strategy to find quotations? For example, when the first telegraph was set up, a cynic famously asked something like, "Yes, but does New York have anything to *say* to San Francisco?" I'd like to find the correct quote, who said it, and when. I googled the quote and found hits on Miranda rights, and how old do you have to be to buy a lighter in New York. I googled "quotation telegraph" and found the Albert Einstein compared a telegraph to a really long cat. Maybe the quotation was about the telephone. It doesn't matter. The problem is that Google is the wrong tool. What are some good strategies? When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning." Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that 2 people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble. "Oh no, my dear," replied granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong." She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, "He'd still be alive if the ice cream truck hadn't come along."
