Myrtle's approval. Jim L Yes, for all the harsh things she has said about her mother, there is also affection/appreciation and intense longing. This was presumably intensified by having to give up her child rather than risk going to her parents for help. I suspect she turned out to have some inescapable similarities to Myrtle. Impossible to please being one. How many kids quit piano lessons only to become Grammy-winning composers?
