Maybe you already know this, but here goes.  When people talk about a "strat sound" they mean the sound of a particular electric guitar, called a Fender Stratocaster.

Using the Roland technology, they are able to approximate the sound of a Stratocaster. If you search YouTube for Stratocaster, you'll find a lot.   It might be easier to simply buy one, or an imitation of one.

There are lots of guitar players on the list who can run with this topic.
