The way I have been taught to work with dreams is to start to look at each part of the dream as one's self, especially if there's a particular image (no matter how bizarre) you are drawn to. I want to emphasise that this would be a starting point and maybe completely wrong! Dreams can work in so many ways, but here are my thoughts. It seems that this image of Joni is important to in this dream. Mark, you could ask yourself things like "How am I like this Joni?" Perhaps you might feel like you are in a bit of a game show in part of your life, or having to wear a false smile, trying to get people excited about something inconsequential. You also describe the dream Joni as looking pathetic. How you feel about that patheticness (if there is such a word) maybe significant. Do you feel sad or angry with this pathetic Joni? It also sounds like this Joni (this maybe more about me than you) is inauthentic, resorting to being a tanned and unattractive game show host in some kind of desperation? It may reflect a real concern about Joni, but again I imagine it to be a point at which you 'meet' with Joni with your unconscious throwing a dream at you to tell you something about yourself and what's going on in your life at the moment. I love working out my dreams, but the knack is to establish what the images are for you and they will be unique to you, though some may also resonate in the collective unconscious. Dream books telling you what this or that means are hopeless. My dreams are often full of jokes and puns and can be very funny. Maybe you have a strong association or views about kaftans and sandals? Anyway, have fun with it! Anita x On 13 Jan 2013, at 08:39, Mark-Leon Thorne wrote: > Hi folks, > > I don't know if this is funny or gross. I had my first ever dream featuring Joni. I just had a vision of Joni, grossly overweight, putting on a fake bubbly smile and hosting a talk show cum game show. She was running into the audience, trying to get them excited about the upcoming segment. She was wearing a horrible kaftan and sandals. Her hair was loosely tied in a bun and she was overly tanned.
