I definitely don't answer it if no ID is provided. I have a cell phone with a pay-as-you-go sim card. I use it for texting my flat mate when I'm at the grocery ("they're out of white wine ... rose?"), and to have a phone number to make arrangements for travel, hotels, etc. Rarely do I talk on the phone, because I have grown to hate a voice disconnected from a face. My cell phone is also set up to pick up wifi independent of having a data plan, which is good because I don't have a data plan. When I can pick up an open connection, I use my cell phone to access the internet. If you want to talk with me, then Skype is the way to go. I talk with my brother and nieces on Skype, and it's great. It's *almost* like being in the same room, even though they're in Ohio and I'm in Wales. Prior to moving to Wales, when I was still living in Germany, my now-flat mate and I spent countless hours on Skype, often playing music for one another (she used to be in a band and so some of what she played for me was live, which was a treat). Skype is free, as well, which is a big plus. I have one friend in San Antonio who hasn't gotten around to getting a web cam, and she insists upon using Skype as a "phone," using only the audio. Yeah, you can do it that way, but what's the point? And I HATE talking on the phone! (And she knows that.) That said, I don't want to gab with people on Skype all the time, either ... or even in person. I am a hermit crab, and I like it that way. More than anything, I am a Facebook geek. It's where I hang out most of the time, and it's where I am most comfortable in terms of communicating. Yeah, FB has its issues, but most of the time it works real good for free.
