It's crazy about that Liars album - I typically don't care for that electronica sort of thing but I love that album, probably because of the melodies he weaves withing the beatiness of it. Arena is also an amazing rock and roll record as you say. Todd's remained a highly prolific artist, that's for sure. Yes, I agree that Todd's output can be uneven at times but, strangely enough, our own tastes change and evolve over the years. Like Patrick, when I first made a tape copy of 1974's TODD album, I left a few songs that I didn't like off the tape. More recently, I played the entire album again and discovered I actually like the songs that I had omitted that many years ago. Another oddity: when Todd released his LIARS album in 2004, Bob Muller told me he thought it was one of the best albums he had ever heard. I hate it and never play it. On the other hand, I consider Todd's ARENA album, from 2008, one of the best things he's ever done. BTW, all you Todd fans should get ahold of the book, "A Wizard, A True Star; Todd Rundgren in the Studio," published in 2010. One of the best books I've ever read!
