Interesting. I wanted to look at the picture closer too. I just pulled it out of my temporary internet files folder. It doesnt look photoshopped to me, but then I am no expert on that. Over at Steve Hoffman forum, someone said it could've been shopped but I dont know how you could sharpen up the original cover and make it look like that. The cover is pretty high contrast, how could you put the details of her hair back in there? You can also see just a hint of her teeth. Maybe not impossible. We need a real answer from someone who knows. I just looked this up in Karen O'Brien's book and it says the cover was a shot taken by Considine at the Troubador around '67 or '68. O'Brien also says that Joni had originally wanted to call the album 'River' and that Joel Bernstein had an idea for a photo that sounds similar to the photo inside the 'Hejira' cover. Maybe that was filed away somewhere in the back of my head when I wrote something awhile back about 'Blue' and 'Hejira'. There's a lesson. Look before you type! The photo on the website is dated 1968 and Blue wasn't released until 1971. Why would a 3 year old photo have been used? ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2012 #894 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, sendtojoni@smoe.org.
