Coyote [Marian Russell Subject: Re: Stones "Waiting on a friend" guitar Vs. Coyote Here is a live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q-G79h8y1U I didn't know that Mick Jagger ever played guitar on stage! In this version (1981) the first chord sounds very different from Coyote, but I agree with Carmel that in the version taken from the original album, the very first chord sounds exactly the same as Coyote - even the same guitar sound as on the Hejira album - but like the live version it's followed by a completely different chord. It's interesting, but not really that different from two completely different songs that would start, e.g., with a D chord or some other chord - - i.e., I don't think anyone lifted anything from anyone else (not that Carmel was saying that at all). Also, somewhere in the depths of Wolfgang's Vault, you can find a version of Joni singing Coyote live with just her guitar around the time shortly after she had just written the song - - i.e., before it had been recorded on Hejira. I think the guitar in that version is very different from the electrified Hejira version. >> From: carmel rotem >> To: JMDL >> Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2012 6:00:17 AM >> Subject: Stones "Waiting on a friend" guitar Vs.
