The dog that caused all the trouble didn't react a jot, when Holly was being put down but Jack did. I had to shut him in the garage and he made all these horrible barking noises, completely from a different place than his normal surface barking to warn off intruders. He'd only known Holly for three years but he was a Jack-the-lad, confident and friendly, winning her over after her initial dislike of the new boy in town. He didn't trust me after the incident and as I later realised, he too felt guilt because he couldn't rescue his old friend. So this situation ruined two lives for a short while. He's now forgiven himself for being helpless and me for being one of the villains of the piece. We are both moving on and getting over it all. With regards to Margaret's reaction to Holly's going, Big Yellow Taxi comes to mind ('Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got until its gone.'). It makes for interesting listening! I don't know if it is an internal rhyme when the sound starts the line. Is this alliteration if the words are not consecutive? It seems like an unusual way of doing things and that's one thing that I love about joni's writing. She has a bigger collection of tools than any other modern pop songwriter I could name. Amen. Pass the plate. Jim, who is moving in 3 days.
