Not only was she from Boston, she was from Dorchester and went to school just a couple of miles from my house. So she was HUGE here. Unlike all my friends, I didn't hate disco. To me, it was clear about what it was - not deep (certainly), just fun dance music. And it was fun to dance to. My favorite Donna Summer song is "State of Independence."
