I get mixed feelings too watching this. Maybe that's because Kilauren has mixed feelings about this song herself and is in fact succeeding in expressing them in this way? We don't know (or do we?) if Joni actually wrote Morgan Morgantown with her daughter in mind but if she did and Kilauren knows that she might have taken the song and mirrored it back, saying: this is how I felt the morning after you left me here in Morgan Morgantown, "with all the mornings still to live". I think the performance has some "morning after" feeling about it. Then again, I really haven't the faintest what Kilauren might think and feel. I am not too impressed with her singing, though, sorry. Marion in Sweden 2012/5/18 Rob And Tracy > Ok, I gotta say I both agree and disagree with Laura regarding Kilauren's > "Morning Morgantown". She's being herself in the Morgan Town video. Here's another video. Look for her in the zebra pattern dress. She's doing the Joni thing at the end, smoking. http://www.myspace.com/kilauren/videos She looks a lot like her mama in my eye. Have a look see: http://www.myspace.com/kilauren/photos/1025291#%7B%22ImageId%22%3A12629362%7D And, she's got some of the same personality traits too, and voice as others have mentioned. Some of her friends call her "Killer." She'd be way cool playing Joni. I think she's a riot!!! Tequilla! I wonder what it sounded like. Joni had lived near Cass Elliot and been part of the same scene. So, is that where she got the idea to record Twisted? Bette's version was released just prior, but it's completely different, less melodic than Annie's. And I honestly don't see Joni paying much attention to performers like Bette. There is no doubt in my mind that Joni transformed the song herself, but maybe she was influenced by Cass. Who knows something? I love Abbey Road, Revolver, Rubber Soul, AND The White Album. I like Rickie's first album, but like Pirates more. "Boston" pushed a lot of digits. And I'm not debating its awesomeness...but I still don't think it is that widely enjoyed. People are just mentioning it because they LOVE it so much. After reviewing my collection, MATW gets my Elton John vote. I would toss Peter Gabriel's So and The Pretenders' Learning to Crawl in the ring, too.
