A Joni anecdote: I went to the New Orleans Jazz Festival in the mid 90s to see Joni sing. I was front row and crying the entire performance. It meant so much to me to see her in person. Afterward, I was like okay so let's go backstage! Let's see her! My friends declined but waited while I went around back and stood outside her trailer (with the singer from The Counting Crows - he's a huge fan of hers) and she came out to talk to us!!! It was just three of us and her and I had one burning question. I heard there was an album before blue called green. The rumor was that it was recorded but not released but if I dug I could find it in the black markets in NY or something. This is pre-Internet so I wanted to know before I wasted my time - was there an album titled Green? I asked her about it and an older woman next to me says 'oh now you're getting into touchy territory'. I had no idea what that meant but I looked at Joni and her face was soured. I knew I'd royally messed up. Looking back, and now knowing about her daughter, I understand her reaction to my question. I am about her daughters age and as I said, I cried visibly the entire show. I saw her look at me in the audience a few times. It must've just haunted her. Not knowing. Being so wise, so open and honest but having that one nagging vaguery must've been a cause of many headaches for her. I wish I could apologize to her for 1. Being such a sad sap at the show and 2. Prying when I should've been more respectful. It's crazy to see Kilauren! I am blown away by their story. Super happy for Joni to be reunited and have a granddaughter as well. <3 Shari On May 18, 2012, at 5:44 AM, LC Stanley wrote: > Hi Rob, > > Cool. She's being herself in the Morgan Town video. But, I DO admit that, like Laura, I love Nazareth's "This Flight > Tonight." Love it. Prefer it to the original, actually. > Ohhh, again I talk > too open and free... > > Rob > > Sent from my iPad ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2012 #743 ***************************** ------- To post messages to the list, send tojoni@smoe.org.
