I've always thought that she was underrated because she was lumped in as just a disco singer. It wasn't until I heard of her passing that I realized that her music was actually a big part of my life. Indeed, I remember being 7 years old and being obsessed with "I Feel Love". However, while I knew it was Donna Summer, I had no clue what the hell the song was called, because I couldn't figure our the words among the moans and thus couldn't get the 45. Then, when I was about 9, my dad's only cousin, Kay, from Pittsburg, came to Canada, and she had cancer, and wanted to buy me something that would make me remember her. My one sister chose a charm for her bracelet. I chose Donna Summer's double album "Live and More." Kay said "You won't remember me with a record!" but she relented and I scored the album. I think of Kay every time I hear Donna Summer, to this day. She really was underrated. I still think her version of "There Goes My Baby" is one of her best moments. Anyway, another one gone too soon.
