We had a garage band in the neighborhood that only played In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida haha! I kind of liked it and no one ever complained as long as it wasn't at 3 in the morning. Victor - how great that little Coltrane has a drum set! A friend's son had the same issue and they ended up soundproofing their small garage for him using old carpet, foam pieces, etc. It's too bad some people are not so easygoing. The Colburn School of Music is across the street from me and many of the students live in my building. Two students moved next door last year and practiced piano and clarinet everyday. They introduced themselves and apologized in advance for the noise. I said I had no problem at all and would love to "overhear" their music any time. I also said I hoped they wouldn't mind when some of my music friends visitied and jammed all night and invited them to stop by in such an event ;-) Kakki - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2012 14:48:44 +0000 From: Susan Tierney McNamara Subject: RE: Disturbing the peace (NJC) That's sad. I remember in our old neighborhood there was a garage band who played only one song ... Sunshine of Your Love ... badly, over and over again and no one called the cops. Poor Coltrane ... don't let the man get you down!! :-) - - -----Original Message----- From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Victor Sent: Friday, April 27, 2012 8:43 AM To: joni@smoe.org Subject: Disturbing the peace (NJC) So last night the police knocked on the door. Apparently someone had called to complain about "noise". The noise was Coltrane, 2 1/2, playing on a drum set with his hands (for all of maybe 3 minutes or so...). I'm still contemplating the absurdity of it...
