Quite a contrast to every other door that had either a pink or blue ribbon on it. Well, nobody has ever accused me of following the pack. Not that it's important, but I would say that Bruce's "early period" ended with "The River" and his middle period began with Nebraska. Obviously there are such drastic differences between those two records that it makes an easy dividing line. Middle period ends "Live in NYC" which kind of is a summation of the first 2 periods and sets the stage for the more mature songwriting styles exhibited in The Rising, Devils & Dust, and Wrecking Ball.
