The Firesign Theater were a huge part of my circle's lives in the late '60s and early '70s. We can still repeat Firesign routines endlessly (and, no doubt, tiresomely to our spouses) and crack each other up with lines like "Shoes for industry, compadre!" Sigh, another part of our youths is gone. If you're talking about buying online, CD universe is a good site, and you can find some deals on ebay if you play it right. Are you just averse to buying on Amazon? And lately, my question has not been WHERE to buy CD's but WHY. I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas, pay Rhapsody $10/month (there are many sites that stream for free), can play it through my home stereo and/or an plug in unit outside. I build a variety of playlists and get the new ones the same day they're released. It's changed my world. Been buying records and CD's since 1972 and don't anymore. And I'm late to the game, CD sales are WAY down as the business model is rapidly changing. I have also begun buying new vinyl issues of artists I really love (they usually come with a CD, too). I did buy myself an Amazon Vending Machine (aka Kindle Fire) with credit card points. It's the books that are going to bankrupt me. Nevertheless for any book I use for work, I need the paper copy because Kindle books have no page numbers. I also haven't figured out how to read google books on it. When I lived in places where they exist, I'd patronize the independents, but they are nowhere to be found around these here parts. > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-joni@smoe.org [mailto:owner-joni@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Bob > Muller > Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2012 10:49 AM > To: Michael Paz > Cc: Jim L'Hommedieu; JMDL > Subject: Re: Alternative to Amazon NJC > > Haha, very funny my smarty-pants friend. When I had my comedy radio show I interviewed him by phone, he was as quick-witted as anyone, and would sometimes turn up on the airwaves here-he had a country retreat in Philo or Compche. A brilliant comedic mind. Where do you go when you're Toad Away? Thanks for all the laughs, Peter.
