They were impressive. Going tonight to see Glenn Phillips and Jeff Calder at another small venue. Should rock. They hooked me a little. Then I realized the extent to which their 1972 southern rock hippie band "style" was attracting me (a lot). While I liked the music pretty well, I started to think that they are dressing up like their dads were back then, or even theirngrandfathers. So I think they're playing dress-up, to an extent! It's hard to resist that Allman Bros look! it's like honey to the bee, and will catch my eye any day. I think if you scratch the surface deep enough they will be trying to also do some Nashville country crossover, and it wouldn't surprise me if they became sort of Zac Brown band-ish. Not that that's necessarily bad! I may be wrong, but I think I smell a desire for commercial Nashville $$. Which for me is a stink. I could be wrong. They should be judged on music only, but honestly I think their "look" is mainly what caused me to keep watching. Em PS: (I'm wrong almost all the time these days...lol) ________________________________ From: "jlhommedieu@insight.rr.com" To: JMDL Sent: Friday, October 26, 2012 7:32 PM Subject: Blackberry Smoke, njc How come no one hipped me to Blackberry Smoke!?
