My seasonal favorite shows were: Season 1 RenC)e Zellweger and Christiane Amanpour Season 2 Dave Chappelle and Maya Angelou Season 3 Was a toss-up between Madeleine Albright and Ashley Judd and Mike Myers and Deepak Chopra Season 4 There weren't really any bad ones, I loved them all. Desmond Tutu and Sir Richard Branson was probably my favorite though Bill Maher and Clive Davis gave some stiff competition I was a bit disappointed in Season 5 but for me the best was Cate Blanchett and Tim Flannery Season 6 begins on Sundance tonight, I'm really looking forward to it. My question to everyone is this... If you were a producer on Iconoclasts, who would you pair Joni Mitchell with for Season 7? Mr. Bubble! It used to come in a box in powdered form. It's probably a liquid now. I'm pretty sure at least the liquid Mr. Bubble is still made. I'm a voracious reader and currently on a break from a series if books about the Stones. I've been reading on Carly Simon (horrible book, badly written...Stephen Davis should be shot), the triple play Carly/Joni/Carole book (thought this one was overrated...felt to me like she tried to cover too much ground in one book), and currently reading a Dylan thing that I like. I'll be delighted to rest my weary brain on some Joni and I hope hope hope it's good! I have really loved hearing your experiences and details and found myself even misty eyed a couple times reading. It all sounds maginificent and I am thrilled Joni gave you all such quality time with her. Absolutely fantastic and I'm sure Joni herself was so happy to meet so many friends who came from all over to bring their love to her. As far as Joni's aging, I also think that she needs to undo the updo but also know that she is much more beautiful and vibrant in person than is shown in photos/videos. Very difficult at the time but I persevered, listening to it constantly at home and in the car. I also had the same experience with Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, feverishly trying to find the hidden code of it all. Years later they both totally decoded and DJRD is especially now in my top 3. When I remember the difficulty of getting into Hissing, I also remember what we were mostly hearing on the radio in 1975. Here are the top 100 songs for that year, some horrifying in retrospect, but it helps somewhat to explain the aural dissonance at the time. ;-) http://www.musicoutfitters.com/topsongs/1975.htm Kakki ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Oct 2012 14:36:59 -0700 From: Betsy Subject: Re: Cherokee Louise Mark cleared up a great mystery in my mind: > I agree that 'Cherokee Louise' stands up alongside the best of Joni's songs > I love the imagery in the song - 'the place where you can stand and press > your hand like it was bubble bath in dust piled high as me' - is one of my > favorites.
