You really know the details......purl, garter stitch, etc. That renders me clueless! You would find this interesting. I noticed awhile ago, and was able to find it again, a post from Ed: "....... On the way, Joni spied a string of Shattuck Street stores that had boxes of lace borders and collars, which she enjoyed sifting through." http://jonimitchell.com/chronology/detail.cfm?id=1226 That clues me in that she sewed her own clothes as well. I've just always been fascinated by her clothing.........and her knits/crocheted's in particular. Laura P.S. Here's some interesting knitting trivia I ran across. Did you know that Linda Ronstadt was a knitter? http://www.pinreach.com/pin/271060471292075547 There are quite a few musicians that knit........maybe, like you said, as a stress reliever. The pink dress she wore at the fabulous BBC show had a crocheted inset and im sure it was handmade ... she also sewed a lot of her own clothes. I would love to pick her brain about which items she sewed.herself ... One clue about her expertise knitting ... She said in the pwwm show that she didnt purl so everything she knit looked like chainmail (garter stitch). This indicates pretty basic knitting skills. She probably knits for the same reason I do ... Stress reduction ... She was obviously trying to ward off cold turkey! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Sep 2012 12:03:44 -0400 (EDT) From: Gertus@aol.com Subject: Re: Quad C&S in Stereo (2 Songs) - Link is NOW Active! So I do think there is something to the thesis, that women in rock to some extent have to deny their gender or at least downplay it and be "just as good as a man". I did not prepare the first time I met her either, for the same reasons, and I was a blithering idiot. Joni was sitting. She stood up and hugged me to calm me down. I would like to at least have a possible opening line... The first time I met her was before PWWAM was taped but we had heard it was possible. When calmed down I asked about that and we ultimately were able to attend. How amazing that so many years later we will be revisiting that incredible evening with her! On a humorous note....I could ask what she thinks of Taylor Swift possibly playing her in a movie...LOL! That might get her going. Ya think? It wasn't a smart or clever exchange, but I learned a great deal personally from it.The second meeting was completely different.Joni was cold free :-) and we talked about what she was doing and she asked a little about Steph and I. > > The problem with planning what to say,for me at least,is that it takes me away from the moment and I am not fully present so miss the moment of meeting. So I am planning on not planning! > > For each of us who get to Ruby Lake,we have to listen and trust ourselves. That way,if one or more get the chance to talk with Her Joniness, the right words will come, whether it be a discussion about Nietzche or Vick cold remedies. My experience has taught me there's room for both and they hold equal value. > Anita ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2012 #1431 ****************************** ------- To post messages to the list, sendtojoni@smoe.org.
