How horrible the builders broke one! Was it also one that Steph had made? ....."Joni, that old wooly supposed to be Paradise you want 5 dollars for? There's a few dropped stitches. How about I give you 4 dollars and you throw in that old painting?"........ Too funny about the garage sale! But, secretly, I really do love that idea! You'd probably get more people coming up there for that then dinner & a movie with our Joan. Do you think the ferry would post a sticker "we break for garage sales"? What do you mean "IF" Joni shows next week........ye of little faith.... you will be having dinner with her at 5:00 pm. So bring an appetite and don't be late! Laura P.S. You all should wear something knitted to the show! On 9/13/2012 8:00 AM, Anita wrote: > Steph can knit and has produced some beautiful jumpers and cardigans. Anything you think of as souvenir-like. Simple and/or weird stuff if okay in my book. I'd be very appreciative. No need to go out of your way but if you happen to see something or get extra of something. I'll pay (cash, check, Paypal) for it as well as shipping & handling. No need to commit yourself here & now ...... but if you come back with something extra, please email me anytime. Thank you!! I throw this question out to all the JMDL knitters..........are most of the 'knits' you wear your own? In general do knitters give other knitters things they knit? Or would that be considered a "Faux Pas" ...not cool? Would you, as one who knits, buy already knitted clothing? Or knit something yourself, that you saw and liked instead? Is it safe to assume that most of Joni's knitted items.......dresses, vests, purse, hats, etc........her own creations? If Joni crocheted this I am amazed. The pink dress she wore at the fabulous BBC show had a crocheted inset and im sure it was handmade ... she also sewed a lot of her own clothes. I would love to pick her brain about which items she sewed.herself ... One clue about her expertise knitting ... She said in the pwwm show that she didnt purl so everything she knit looked like chainmail (garter stitch). This indicates pretty basic knitting skills. She probably knits for the same reason I do ... Stress reduction ... She was obviously trying to ward off cold turkey! The 'naked knitting' story. You have a GREAT memory for the details. LOL Here's the clip you are referring to: http://jonimitchell.com/library/video.cfm?id=185 Joni's own account of knitting in a "cabin/shack" at Lord Jim's in Canada which, I believe, is now known as Rockwater Secret Cove Resort. Somewhere I read (can't find it now that I'm searching) that she stayed in Cabin 11 for almost a year during the construction of her house. See the cabin in this video here (2:10): http://jonimitchell.com/library/video.cfm?id=239&from=search Laura On 9/12/2012 11:33 PM, Mark wrote: > Wasn't it during PWWAM that she told the story of sitting in bed > knitting in a motel or hotel room of some kind up there near her place > in BC?
