There are also "nearly live" or "slightly live" takes where you might keep just the rhythm section tracks from the live show and recut the vocals and guitars in the studio. Frank Zappa went even further with that concept and would take the bass and drums from a live recording of one song and then build an entirely new song from it or even layer the guitar part from a different song in a different meter and tempo over it.
