NJC As a New Yorker, I can forgive the Who any old age limitations they have, especially after the magnificently cathartic, transcendent and kickass performance they gave as the finale to the Concert for New York after the 911 attacks. I'll never forget it. NJC LOL someone's got his period today!> Truth be told I was most likely transferring some frustration regarding a co-worker and needed to rant a bit, but I don't take back anything I said. And in my case I'm a HUGE Who fan. My first remembrance of them was hearing "I Can See For Miles" on the radio and being knocked out. I asked my sister who was playing and she said yes they are. I guess she has the same smarta$$ gene that I have. Anyway, they have a stack of CLASSIC recordings, basically invented the "rock opera" concept, have an album in my top ten (Who's Next) and one that has what I consider the best rock bass playing ever (Quadrophenia). Never saw them live, though. Pity. I did watch their (Townsend/Daltrey) performance on the Super Bowl a couple of years back and it was embarrassingly bad. I felt bad for them. Surely they have invested wisely enough that they don't have to subject themselves to such public humiliation. Guess not. I assume that Joni still has it but is that true. I was just looking at her comments from the StarArt book at the jm.com website. http://jonimitchell.com/paintings/view.cfm?id=11&recs=3#viewing Sue Susan Tierney McNamara email: sem8@cornell.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Aug 2012 10:14:21 -0500 From: est86mlm@ameritech.net Subject: Casting Calls / Auditions for Girls Like Us Here's some news!
