I noticed in the photos that one of the photos shows a tag marked "Joan Klein" ( http://www.la-estatesales.com/ESCLA/Photos_2.html#170 ). For myself, I'd love the ingrained wood nesting tables or the Ethiopian wicker stool. I wish auction sites showed the final selling prices for their sales so I can kick myself when I find out items were, in fact, affordable. > > Warmly, > Cassy > > NP: Mellencamp - Jackie Brown - (Rough Harvest version) > > -----Original Message----- From: Dave Blackburn > Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2012 9:59 AM > To: joni@smoe.org LIST > Subject: Joni Estate sale > > My friend Robert is an antique dealer and just sent me this link about an > estate sale of Joni's furniture opening tomorrow and running for three days. > There are photos of the pieces. > > http://www.estatesales.net/estate-sales/252414.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Feb 2012 08:56:04 -0600 From: LC Stanley Subject: Re: JMDL Digest V2012 #97 Hi Karen, She owned it at the time of our last jonifest in LA, August 2011, according to the very nice neighbor who said it was for rent. So she probably still owns it unless she very recently sold it. Love, Laura On Feb 3, 2012, at 8:09 AM, "Felty, Karen" wrote: > I thought Joni sold the Laurel Canyon property years ago. > > Karen F. It was held in a gorgeous 3-story townhome and most of the items were from the owner. Everything was in absolute perfect condition and looked far more impressive than was shown in the website photos. Every item was beautiful and I did not see one piece of junk. Maybe the shabbier items were cleared out before the sale. There were three ladies running the show and we spoke to the one who had personally gone to Joni's Bel Air and Laurel Canyon houses to see what she wanted to sell. She said Joni went back and forth on letting some of the items go. She said that Joni is also going to sell her Wurlitzer but was mum when we asked her for more details as to when and price. We had the impression that the owner of the home might be a friend of Joni and that Joni "piggybacked" her items on the sale. We were told the painted music stand was the first to go - bought by a "private buyer." (O.K., who is the lucky one? ;-) The lampshades were huge and apparently made for large floor lamps. The painted one was priced at over $600 but the others were far less. All of Joni's furniture was beautiful and must have been very well-cared for over the years. All the tables were from the 19th century and priced between $300 and $1,800. Very good deals on all the items. We met a friendly guy who is totally into Joni and we asked if he was from the JMDL. He had not known of us but we all started chattering about Joni estorica with him. He bought the only small rawhide lampshade for $40 and said he loved the idea of having "Joni's essence" in his place ;-) He told us his dad was a famous drummer in the 60s with the Kingston Trio, Canned Heat, Zappa and The Monkees ;-) If anyone in the local area wants to stop by the sale - look for the terra-cotta, Spanish style townhome complex but don't even think about parking on Sycamore. The street is closed and filled with city construction crews putting in new underground pipes and street. Highly recommend checking it out! What I need here is some interpretations and back stories about all the songs on Blue. I have told her what I could but I also said that I would touch base with my community and find out as much as I can. The gig is in March..so we have a little bit of time. She is only 25 years old and has herself a strong following in all things jazz here in Winnipeg... so .. we can either discuss it "here" or you can send me your stories, impressions and what have you to me privately. It all comes down to you ;-) ... oh this is a year, this is a wonderful year of hope, promise and lots of love. So bring it on.
