Hard drives fail if you drop them, and the bearings can wear out, so it's best to back up....meaning two of everything. SD cards and thumb drives can lose data over time, dvd+r is the most reliable of the recordable media, but also subject to failure-certain brands like Taiyo Yuden are considered trustworthy. Same with hard drives-read the reviews, some brands are better than others. Of course, the type of file you are saving will determine how much storage you need. A 1TB external USB drive should hold everything and then some. Haven't checked prices lately, but you should be able to get one for about $100. You could use your laptop as backup if it has the space. RR > Has anyone here ripped their entire collection of music to a hard > drive? If so, what is required.
