Say the current price is $47 and I am the highest bidder, with my bid of $50. If the current price is $47 and someone else bids $48, the current price of the auction goes to $49 and I still win (assuming that the increment is $1. This increases as the price increases. For example, the increment on a $20,000 car would be much more.) If someone bids $49, the current price becomes $50 and I win because no one has outbid me. If the current price is $48 and they accidently bid $48.25, they have no effect because their bid is not enough to overcome the $1 increment. If someone bids $51, and the increment is $1, they win and it costs them $51. If someone bids $52 and I never bid again, they win at $51. If they bid $1,000.00, they still win at $52. In a way, it takes 2 people to drive the price up, a winner and the guy who drove up the price. Jim L'Hommedieu Bob M. said in part, >The software is configured so that the winning bidder ONLY PAYS THE MINIMUM NEEDED TO WIN.> ------------------------------ End of JMDL Digest V2012 #51 **************************** ------- To post messages to the list, send tojoni@smoe.org.
