I too think it's a real gem, and if it encorages you to explore her amazing catalogue, even better. Melodically, Amelia is not the toughest song to sing, but if you go off-book and memorize all the lyrics, the difficulty increases exponentially. Annie Lennox's 1995 LOTC cover was a very high-profile recording and was included in Volume 2 (which ended up being a 4-CD set, mostly made up of contributions from everyone). It's since been included on the Joni Tribute released in 2007 and is available as a download on most services. As for ebay, many people seem to not understand how the bidding works - the software is set up so that you only have to pay the amount necessary to win the bid, not the full amount of your bid. It's not typical of most sealed/secret bids, where the seller gets to see your full bid. They don't. However, it does encourage riskier bids sometimes on rare items which maximizes revenues for the seller as well. For example: If a seller offers an item with a starting price of $1, and I bid $50, all the seller (and any competitors for the item) see is that I am winning the auction with a bid of $1. If they jump in and bid $5, I will still be leading but now the bid amount is pushed up to $5.50 or so (the minimum required to win). I will continue to be the winning bidder until someone places a bid higher than my $50. That's why it rarely makes sense to bid until the final seconds of an auction, otherwise you only risk paying more than you have to to win. Hope that makes sense. That song has got to be difficult to sing - what a voice on that woman!! I'm not a big fan of hers - - mainly because I have not had much exposure to her music but I will now check her out more closely. Regarding that Retro covers you bought on ebay - did you ever include Annie Lenox's Ladies of the Canyons in any of our retro covers editions released to the list? I don't recall seeing that or hearing that. By rhe way - how were you only able to pay only 10% of your bid on ebay? Thanks !! - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail message (including attachments, if any) is intended for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed and may contain information that is privileged, proprietary , confidential and exempt from disclosure.
