I've been away from the list for extended periods lately also, but was just thinking about Bill yesterday as I vacuumed the steps in my house. I was humming "Let The Wind Carry Me" (Papa's faith is people, Mama she believes in cleaning). Funny pieces of connection...I spoke to Bill at the Mendel in Saskatoon the same night I used the word "vacuum" with Joni (helping her spell continuum for a fan's inscription in his Voices book). He was a good man and great Dad. I know that Joni will sense the loss of a generation with his passing. I felt my own father embodied the great changes of the twentieth century, much of it he imparted to me. His loss meant I had less a connection to the past and a simpler life. Yes, may Bill rest in peace and my Joni find solace and celebration in his memory. Thanks for doing this Dave I have been enjoying listening to these while I am working at my desk. Hope you and Robin are well. Certain released compilations have done a good job of remastering certain tracks and Blue in particular received HD treatment, but I focused on four albums that to me needed a lot of help sonically and that are less well known to the public. I believe you will hear dramatic improvement in all four of these and hear details you never heard before. STAS and Mingus are from my 2007 mastering spree; some of you already have those. DED and DJRD I just did this month and I employed sonic tools that literally unmask hidden sounds in the mix. Very cool, if you are geekly inclined! They are all in Apple Lossless format and ready to be dropped into iTunes and burned onto full resolution CDs from there if you wish. There is an accompanying pdf of mastering notes that tells more about the undertaking. It is such a pleasure and a blessing that Patti has been so active the past few years... her engaging, fascinating memoir, her concerts... mentioms in newspapers and magazines... still it's a shame that many young people these days don't know who she is... It's awful kids these days would rather listen to all the garbage being created than truly good music such as Joni and Patti and Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen and much classic rock... ----- Sent from my Boost. - -----Original Message----- From: JMDL Digest Sent: 1/22/2012 8:00:05 AM To: joni-digest@smoe.org Subject: JMDL Digest V2012 #41 JMDL Digest Sunday, January 22 2012 Volume 2012 : Number 041 ========== TOPICS and authors in this Digest: - -------- Re: Joni Auction Items - Authentic or Not?
