Enough to stir me out of several years of lurkdom. Here's mine: My first album was STAS, which actually belonged to my older sister, but I "adopted" it along with Judy Collins' Wildflowers. It has remained my favorite album of all time, by anyone. I bought Clouds when it was released. I remember my favorite song was I Think I Understand . I was always impressed that Joni did everything herself including background vocals, and cover art. Next I got Blue. Loved it to death. Every song. For The Roses, ditto Somewhere around this time I realized there was an album I missed. I got a copy of LOTC eventually, but I always felt it was an odd jumble of songs. I liked some of the songs , but couldn't get into it much as a album. For a long time I thought it had been released after Blue. With Court And Spark Joni was all over the radio, I remember listening to a 2 hour interview with her on a CBC radio show called "The Entertainers". The L.A Express seemed to fit well with her. MOA was a surprise. I saw it in a record store, bought it immediately of course. Loved it HOSL - Joni was musically better than ever and I played it a lot, but I couldn't identify with the subject matter of her songs much on this album. It was the last one I bought. I heard Coyote on the radio or somewhere. Hated it. Still do. Did not want to get Hejira. Almost bought Night Ride Home in 1994 but was turned off by some preachy lyrics. Many years later I picked up all of Joni's albums from Hejira on. I listened to them all and the only one that impressed me was DJRD, though the fact is I've never played it since. There are a few songs from those years like Chinese Cafe and others I like. All in all I prefer Joni solo, especially the early years when she was, or at least appeared to be happy and humble.
