Yes, everyone in my neighborhood was mowing their lawns in shorts last weekend, despite the palm trees wrapped with lights for Christmas. My friends all yell at their kids to bundle up when they play outside in the cold: 55 F. So that's why I have a hard time believing some people live where it's so cold moving water actually freezes to the point where you could skate on it. "Putting up reindeer could mean putting up store window displays or lawn ornaments or any image of Santa's reindeer you see at Christmas time." Duh! Funny how we form a mental image and can't let go of it. And I had last watched Annie Hall a few months ago--no recollection of that scene of LA "homes with artificial displays of Santa and reindeer on the lawns." The holiday season turns "off and on like a bathtub faucet" and I hardly ever feel the cheer deeply. Oh well. It seems like everyone else is faking it anyway.
