I do love Kate's more mature voice. She always had a big range and could do the lower voice all along, and I wasn't fond of the really high one, although I'm still in awe of anyone who can go that high without the use of helium. "Misty" is still kind of a freaky song, but that's Kate, isn't it, and it's probably an allegory as well. >________________________________ > From: gerard mclaughlin >To: Bob Muller >Cc: Catherine McKay ; Betsy Blue ; "joni@smoe.org" >Sent: Tuesday, November 22, 2011 1:05:17 PM >Subject: Re: 50 Words for Snow NJC > >NJC. It is never the easiest of things to read but I found the JMDL digest and got stuck in - not many posts but that is OK. Good to see the stalwarts still batting back and forth here and there.. Interesting little thread going on about "How do you stop" and then I read in Bob's comment - "I think the addition of Seal gives it a nice touch" Made me laugh out loud as all I could think of was the sort of honking noise that sealions make. People stared and looked at me in a slightly pitiful way. I realise it is a "just me then" moment but thank you for lightening a very very grey English morning where the clouds are barely able to lift their heels from the pavements. Southern Hampshire is all adrip! Must get on with some work Queen Lulu - please note new e-mail address - the old aurabright@supanet is dead. "How Do You Stop" was written by Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight. The lyrics are a bit mundane for Joni..."how do you stop the ripening corn, how do you stop a baby being born"...having said that, she does a good job of making the tune her own and the addition of Seal gives it a nice touch. Their voices are a great blend. The collaboration on his record ("If I Could") is better still. I count it among the "Joni covers" as the first time I heard it was on Joni's record.
