"How Do You Stop" was written by Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight. The lyrics are a bit mundane for Joni..."how do you stop the ripening corn, how do you stop a baby being born"...having said that, she does a good job of making the tune her own and the addition of Seal gives it a nice touch. Their voices are a great blend. The collaboration on his record ("If I Could") is better still. I count it among the "Joni covers" as the first time I heard it was on Joni's record. Strange, thought I, and went googling. Where, when I put in James Brown + Joni Mitchell + How Do You Stop, the first 10 options to come up claimed that the tune was originally written for James Brown by two other guys, and that Joni's version is just a cover. I thought she wrote it with David Crosby. Kate b?b 1b.b?b 1b.b?b 1b. He was calm and polite, very tall, and looked to be in his 40s. Nothing much interesting happened...maybe I should have eaten some ice cream before bed. I'm hoping for a good Joni dream Thursday night!
