Yes, Joni was a commercially viable artist already, but my guess would be that Geffen (or whomever) steered her away from including material that was selling steadfastedly already. Keep in mind, Joni always refused to do a hits compilation (until 'hits,' lol), so perhaps this was a compromise since Geffen owned Asylum and he was a good friend. I used to wonder about this myself - and when I finally got my hands on some actual full length shows from that tour, I was blown away by how much was missing. Or - maybe she just didnt feel the live arrangements held up when she listened back...
