Another tip: If the way the answers filled in is an indication, you get 2 songs for each of the 2 that are on 'Both Sides Now' that are on other Joni albums. I don't think Travelogue was on there. Then Robin found what he had posted on Amazon about it so I printed that in lieu of quoting his interview remarks. He did tell me that Joni herself was not at all pleased with the album either, but he wasn't sure why, so I didn't want to include gossipy speculation or second hand hearsay. I plan to interview Henry Lewy and Jaco from beyond the grave next. We need to form a circle and hold hands by candlelight for this to work. I really love this album but to tell you the truth I felt myself nodding about Herbie's tinkling. Don't get me wrong, I love Herbie Hancock and think he's a genius but his interpretations of Joni's melodies changed the songs. On first listen I had to check the liner notes to see what song he was playing, especially Sweet Bird. I only say this in the sense that I can see how Max Bennett would feel that way but I still think the Joni Letters is a wonderful album and a great tribute to Joni (and also deserved the Grammy). > > Again great job Dave.
