It sounds like the exact same backing track as the one used in the film, except that, obviously, Joni's vocal was replaced by Kristen Vigard's. For what it's worth, I prefer Kristen Vigard's version of all three - what a gorgeous voice! Her version used to be on youtube, but isn't any more, as far as I can tell, which is a shame. Incidentally, and also FWIW, I think Man From Mars is the last good Joni song. It is in my top 4 most played Joni albums. I consider it "great stuff," like a finely polished new car with an incredible shine. There is a place of appreciation of both old and new in Shine. I get the sense that a circle is completed with Shine. Movement she started in earlier albums of public awareness is brought into the now. The album was born in a time not for warm love songs but the time for needed awareness, awakening, shine. I had expectations when Wild Things Run Fast came out, and I missed out on years of listening to that album because of my prejudices at the first few weeks of listening. Here is a nice video of "If." What an awesome ending... a beginning with new fight and insight. Hope in future generations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m78cSts3tJw Love, Laura On Sep 20, 2011, at 6:37 PM, Bob Muller wrote: > philosophical, deeply felt Joni at this stage in her life > is what I > want to hear. > > > Yeah, I think we all echo the same sentiment, Mary - I doubt > if anyone would say that Shine was EXACTLY what they wanted from Joni. Well, yes, I suppose that's true of all of us, but what we can do with that creativity is another matter. It's obvious that for quite some time painting has inspired Joni more than song. I'd prefer silence to something forced or less than inspired. If the songs come, I'm sure we'll hear them. Alas, they emailed back "Not for quite some time. Its a future title at the moment, without a set pub date." I am mega-disappointed, as it looks so good, and I've read the Weller book about 10 times and another book that I believe was titled BLUE.......! If anyone gets word on release date, would appreciate sharing.
