["Randy Remote" Subject: Re: Spam? now njc Terra, thanks for this info. It does a very good job of explaining a lot of things that I didn't understand. One thing I still don't understand is how you can sometimes receive an email from what looks like the name of someone you know but you realize it's only the user name and not the email address that is the name of the person you know. How do people get the names of people you know without having gained access to either their or your address book? If your own email is hacked, would you know right away? Would you just not be able to access it yourself? Don't know if you know the answers to this, but maybe someone does. I recently had my bank card compromised - someone managed to grab my info, possibly while i was paying for something using the card, and they apparently made a fake one and took money out of my account. Since I rarely have much money in the bank (ever!), they didn't get much and I noticed almost immediately when I went to pay for something and discovered there were no funds, so I reported it right away, but that stuff makes you very paranoid. - ----- Original Message ---- > From: T Peckham > To: Catherine McKay > Cc: joni@smoe.org; Les Irvin > Sent: Tue, June 14, 2011 4:09:39 PM > Subject: Re: Spam? > > Ok, I just read about this group/service yesterday.
