[Bob Muller ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 27 May 2011 08:09:58 -0400 From: Gerald Notaro Subject: DVD Offer - Tina Dico and Tift Merritt - njc Laurent sent me a DVD of two performances he filmed, Tina Dico in Paris, 4-6-11, and Tift Merritt 2-8-11. I enjoyed watching them both, for different reasons. I have a couple of Tift's cd's but have never seen her perform. So it was great fun to see her perform, especially since Laurent is a skilled videographer and the quality is professional. The only time I had ever heard of Tina was on the list. She is an amazing performer and writer. Her talent is fearless and free, much like Dylan, and her appeal is much more universal than many might imagine. I'll send the DVD to the first person who requests it with the request that you pass it on to other list members. It now includes all vocal parts, all orchestral lines and even an alternate reading of one spot where there are "mistakes" in the harmony vocals. We feel this can be considered complete and unabridged now. We invite any and all to check out the fruit of dozens of hours of careful listening to this landmark track. Special thanks to Michael and a nod of appreciation to modern transcribing software that allows for forensic examination of recorded music. http://jonimitchell.com/music/transcription.cfm?id=467 Dave ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 May 2011 12:10:32 -0400 From: Susan Tierney McNamara Subject: RE: new Down to You score added Amazing. In his examination of this transitional year, former EW music critic Browne delves into behind-the-scenes stories about both the albums and the artists." Kudos to Dave and Michael. But, Sue, you have been doing just as important work with your guitar transcriptions. All who have the time and talent to add to the guitar and piano transcription databases are making historical records of the music of the the great Joni Mitchell. My humble thanks and kudos to you all.
