Before I read this article I thought Mia Wasikowska would have the fragility for early Joni, but I can understand Sayles not selecting her if she can't sing. I'm pretty much hoping for an unknown though to come in and nail it. I can definitely see Mandy Moore as Carly. I'm sure the gleeks would love to see Lea as Carole. :-) I just finished watching Legends of the Canyon again and I'm rediscovering how great a songwriter Stephen Stills is. I need to unearth my Manassas vinyl and go underground for a while!!!! As Joni I would love to see Evan Rachael Wood. I think Lea Michele would make a perfect Carole King. As For Carly Simon...I'm not really sure, of the choices mentioned I would probably pick Mila Kunis, but what about her co-star from "Black Swan," Natalie Portman. What makes Dylan Dylan is that he does what HE wants to do, not what others want him to do. Whether that means plugging in at a folk fest, recording a couple of albums of Christian songs, playing in minor league ballparks, re-inventing himself and his songs, playing with his back to the audience, etc. I'm only here a couple weeks but you don't feel like you're in the midst of some repression. The people are kind and nice, I'm a guest in their country and they treat me like it. By the same token I realize I'm an ambassador for the US and try to behave as such. One of my employees has pictures of Dylan posted in her work area. Sure do wish Joni would turn loose of some of her early concerts.
